![]() ![]() Think we did about 20 more wheel turning cycles just to be positive there were no bubbles in the reservoir. ![]() When the fluid coming out of the return was as clean as the stuff going in, I reinstalled the return line to the res. We were able to bleed and flush the system at the same time. I then had my wife turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock.slowly but steadly.(ENGINE OFF)I I kept adding fluid to the res as the old stuff was being purged into the bucket. During the job, with the low pressure hose and reservoir removed, the car was accidentally cranked and ran for a couple of seconds. I replaced the low pressure and high pressure hose o-rings. Jack the front wheel off the ground(jack stands). My 2001 Odyssey had a steering whine that was characteristic of a leak on the low pressure/suction side. Improved formula expands range of power steering system. Put a union in the return line and attach about 4' of clear vinyl tubeing running that into a 5 gal bucket. Maintains maximum performance even in high and low temperature extremes. I flushed the fluid by taking off the return hose at the booster and put ahose to a bottle and when I tap the brakes all I get is foam, I put 2 quarts. I replaced the steering pump and still is doing the same thing. Basically, you remove the return line to the reservoir, plug the res where you took the line off. (Edited) My steering quit workn and is foaming out the top.If you search this forum, someone has posted step by step instructions on how to do it. It was something I was able to do in the garage. Power steering fluid foaming is a common problem that can cause a loss of power and steering control. ![]() You either disconnected the system or ran it low on fluid and sucked air into system, foaming is caused by air being compressed and when you shut off it will over flow, you need to find correct way to bleed out the air, I have exactly same issue, just patience in bleeding. When that foamy fluid finally gets back to your reservoir the air will bubble out. Has the p/s fluid ever been changed? Do you see any leaks in the system other than at the reservoir? If there's a bad hose or fitting, leaky rack and pinion, it will suck air into the system. Air in the fluid will make your pump noisy and your steering to feel soggy. ![]()
